Éva Gera (1923–1996) was a painter born in Budapest, Hungary, best known for her still lifes, landscapes, and graphic works. She studied at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts, where she received her training under renowned masters. In her early career, she worked extensively with linocuts and classical drawing techniques, demonstrating a high degree of precision and sensitivity.
Over the years, she developed a distinctive artistic voice characterized by a lyrical tone, harmonious use of color, and balanced compositions. One of her preferred techniques was egg tempera, which created a matte surface well suited to her contemplative, delicate imagery. Her works often featured flowers, interior scenes, and objects, evoking a quiet sense of reflection.
Beyond her solo career, Gera was also active in artist communities. In the 1980s, she co-founded the Vizualart group, which aimed to promote contemporary artistic collaboration and experimentation. Her achievements were recognized with several awards, including the prestigious SZOT Prize.
