Sergey Biba (born 1965) is a contemporary Ukrainian artist renowned for his abstract paintings and graphic works. He is a member of the National Union of Ukrainian Artists and has been recognized with the regional Bokshai and Erdeli Prize. His artistic journey began at the Zoltan Bakonii Art School, and he is considered a modernist artist.
Biba’s works are characterized by their abstract nature, often devoid of titles, allowing viewers to interpret the essence of the artwork personally. This approach reflects his belief in the viewer’s ability to connect with the essence of the artwork without predefined labels. His use of texture and color aims to evoke emotions and moods, drawing parallels to the traditions of the Transcarpathian school of painting.
Notably, Biba’s works have been featured in exhibitions at the Yosyp Bokshai Transcarpathian Regional Art Museum in Uzhhorod, showcasing selected pieces from different periods since the 1990s. His art has also been displayed in numerous regional, national, and international exhibitions, symposiums, and plein-air shows. His works are part of many museum and private collections across Ukraine, Denmark, the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Israel, Japan, and the United States.
